Record and document. Make as many notes as possible and document everything at the site of the accident. Take pictures, gather notes, and obtain as much relevant information as possible. If you have a video recording device, make a video also. All of this is going to be very useful when you are pursuing further action.

Inform your auto insurance company. Once you have exchanged this information, immediately call your insurance company to inform them about the accident. Listen carefully to the instructions your insurance company may provide. Ask if the insurance company has a legal services department.
