Credit Now for Credit Later

DontSpendMore.com

I don’t use credit, don’t need to.

Credit cards are a way to bankruptcy.

It is safer to use cash for purchases.

Being circumspect when spending is the way to go is what my elders taught me.

Are you living with this philosophy? Well it’s time you learnt some new age philosophy. For there is nothing wrong in being money wise, but you need to learn how to be credit wise.

Here’s why.

Living within your means, no doubt, is the wisest thing your ancestors could have taught you and it still holds good today. However never borrowing money from the credit market unless you face some unexpected calamity is not the wisest course of action in this day and age.

In today’s times you need to borrow now when you don’t need, in order to be able to borrow later, when you actually have the need.

Great! I should borrow money even if I don’t want to or have any need to. What sense does that make. That’s like saying get married now even if you don’t want to, so that you may get married later when you want to. Completely warped logic!

Not really! It’s quite logical really. Here’s how it goes. The reason you need to borrow funds when you have absolutely no need to, is that it sets about a chain of events that helps you greatly if and when you are in need.

Unbeknownst to you, there are people who are very interested in the money you make and more importantly – spend, apart from the IRS.

In fact they already have a dossier on you and your financial habits. They are the top recording artists of the finance world – Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. These formidable three know more about your finance than probably even you do. Every thing you do from paying parking fines, paying rent, or even having overdue library fees, is known to them. They are like the Big Brother watching your every move.

Luckily the U S government has ruled in your favor and made it mandatory for these people to reveal to you the very secrets that they collected about you, albeit in the form of a report. What’s more they have to give you this information free of cost. It is your right. Score one for the common man.

Where do you go to collect these reports? The only authorized place is www.annualcreditreport.com

Huh!

Don’t worry, don’t get overwhelmed. Take a deep breath and let me go on explaining why you need to take loans in periods of financial health to freely avail of them in periods of financial duress.

Like I said before, your financial activities – insignificant or not, are recorded and reported by the three nationwide credit bureaus Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.

What happens when you start using credit is that your behavior with respect to repaying that credit is recorded. Hence if you display good behavior like paying back your loans on time or earlier than the due date then it scores positively in your favor.

If you have taken a couple of loans like those involving monthly installments and paid them regularly then it scores positively in your favor.

If you have a couple of credit cards and clear your balances on time or before time, it scores positively in your favor.

If you handle different types of loans effectively and efficiently, it scores positively in your favor.

This is why you need to take loans so that your credit behavior takes form; so that there is a history of your credit behavior that can be referred to when considering you for a loan when you really need it.

After all in these strained times who would like to lend money to someone about whom very little is known. Sounds like a risky proposition doesn’t it?

Hence go take out a loan, or get a credit card. It is time to make a beginning!
